Sandra Diane McLean Plonk, age 76, of Dallas, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025, at her residence. She was born July 12, 1949, in Mecklenburg County to the late Ray and Kay Smith McLean.
Sandra was deeply rooted in her faith and was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Sandra enjoyed traveling, working puzzles and shopping. Through her shopping adventures she amassed a collection of snow globes and Santa Clause figures. Sandra loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and she will be missed dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Margie Spivey, Linda Thompson, and Terry McLean.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Earl Stephen Plonk of the home; son, Darrell Steven Plonk (Amy) of Sherrills Ford; brother, Johnny McLean (Rosie) of Charlotte; sisters, Peggy Turner of Harrisburg, and Shirley Robinson (Tommy) of Bakersville; grandchildren, Emma Plonk, and Eli Plonk.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. John H. Spencer officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Her family would like to share their appreciation of the loving care that the hospice team gave Sandra during her declining health.
