Sandra Ann Heafner Edwards, age 76, of Cherryville, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025, at her residence. She was born April 1, 1949, in Lincoln County to the late Jack Bennett Heafner, Sr. and the late Peggy Gantt Heafner.
Sandy enjoyed being outside, working in her yard. She loved her fur babies and would occasionally take in a few that needed a home. She also enjoyed trips to the beach. Sandy also had a genuine love for people and enjoyed talking to them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Leroy “Popeye” Edwards; a son, Jason K. Beam, and her brother, Benny Heafner.
Survivors include her brother-in-law, Tommy Edwards (Cheryl) of Laurens, SC; step-son, Chad Edwards; two nephews, William and Benji Heafner; sister-in-law, Gloria Heafner; two nieces, Cheyenne and Savannah Heafner; and her dearest friends, Paul and Carol Cornwell, and Phyllis Whitesides.
A graveside ceremony officiated by Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw, will take place at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery Courtyard where both Sandy and Leroy’s ashes will be interred together.
Her family would like to send a special “thank you” to the healthcare team that gave her the care and love while she was at home.
