Sandra Faye Rainwater Bio
The one and only Sandra Faye Shaw Rainwater was born September 17, 1954, to Homer Neal Shaw and Mattie Holley in Edison, GA. She is one of fifteen children and the youngest daughter. Faye was a lifelong learner. She attended Calhoun County High School class of 1972. She continued her education at Georgia Southwestern College but shortly realized she wanted to be where her sisters were in Atlanta, GA. She moved in with her beloved and late sister, Arrie Rozier, and enrolled at Morris Brown College, where she received a Bachelor's in Business Administration. Faye, as she was affectionally known, was a lifelong learner and an example for her children. She furthered her education at Shorter University, where she received a Master's in Business Administration, which inspired her son, Nathaniel "Champ" Rainwater Jr., to obtain his Masters. Faye was employed with Georgia Institute of Technology as a Manager of Asset Accounting for 20 years; then worked at Kroger in Customer Service and retired after 14 years. Then, she began her career in the school system, working for Clayton County and Fulton County Public Schools. She retired from the public school system in May 2024 after 21 years.
Faye Rainwater dedicated her life to being a nurturer, provider, and devoted friend to all she encountered. She was the ultimate Team Mom, and everyone knew her as "Mama Faye." She was a woman of many interests and talents, a go-to chef; ask about her baked beans, ask anyone about her brunches. Not only did Faye serve her children and others, but she was also God's faithful servant, the head of her life. She was devoted to Beulah Baptist Church and served on Usher Ministry #2, Beulah Wheel, and Pastor's Aide.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted son, Nathaniel Rainwater Jr., her "late surprise" and best friend, Morgane Rainwater, three grandchildren whom she deeply loved and was devoted to, Nathaniel "Lil Champ" Rainwater III, Nuri Rainwater, and Milo Rivers; four sisters, Blondcile Shaw Walker, Mattie Shaw Sherrell, Joyce Shaw (Russell) Wright, Velma Shaw Freeman; three brothers, Carlton, Kenneth, and Wayne (Patricia) Shaw, a plethora of nieces and nephews, beloved family members Keshia Seaborn and Frank Rivers, other loving relatives, and friends.
