Doris Rainwater Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Funeral Center - Scott Chapel on Jan. 28, 2026.
Doris Jean Rainwater, age 73, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026. She was born on January 21, 1953, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to the late William and Barbara Watson.

Doris spent many years sharing her talents and creativity as a beautician and beauty instructor, a role she truly loved as it allowed her to connect with others and help them feel their best. In her later years, she continued serving people with kindness and dedication while working as a customer service representative for Lowe's. No matter the setting, Doris had a gentle way of making others feel welcomed and cared for.

Above all else, Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into caring for those she loved. She found her greatest joy in watching her family grow, celebrating their milestones, and offering steady love, encouragement, and wisdom through every season of life.

Outside of her work, Doris found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader who could often be found lost in a good book, and she enjoyed sewing, a pastime that reflected her patience, creativity, and attention to detail. Time spent with her family was especially precious to her, and she took great pride in the generations she helped shape.

Doris is survived by her loving children, Steven Watson (Alysia), Stephanie Wingate (Michael), David Rainwater Jr. (Bobbi), Jimmy Rainwater, and Gary Rainwater. She also leaves behind twelve cherished grandchildren, Kelsee, Caitlyn, Ethan, Caleb, Taylor, Samantha, Haley, Shelby, Ana, Amanda, Corey, and Cameron, as well as eleven beloved great-grandchildren who were a constant source of joy in her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Barbara Watson; her husband, David Rainwater, Sr.; her son, Dale Watson Jr.; and her siblings, William Watson, Shelia Richard, and Anthony Craig Watson.

Legacy Funeral Center has been entrusted with arrangements. The family has honored Doris's wish for cremation.
