Larry Masden Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Funeral Center - Scott Chapel on Feb. 17, 2026.
Larry Masden, 65, passed away Tuesday February 3, 2026

Larry was born January 20, 1961 to the late Jeanette Allen Masden and William Masden.

A quiet soul at heart, he had a unique ability to light up any room with his infectious smile and warm presence. Larry was known for his hard work and dedication as a roofer at Highland Roofing, where he spent many years building both a career and strong bonds with colleagues.

Outside of work, Larry was a man of simple pleasures. He had a deep love for Derby time, always enjoying the excitement it brought. He was often found shooting pool with friends, or enjoying a cold beer at the local Portland bars like Cavaliers Inn, American Legion Shawnee Post 193, and The Wright Place. These places were more than just hangout they were where he made memories and shared countless laughs with those close to him.

His friendships meant the world to him, and he held a special bond with his two best friends/brothers Billy Whalin and Rob Borders, their connection was a testament to his loyalty and the genuine care he had for those in his life.

Though Larry was often quiet, his impact was undeniable. His kind heart, good nature, and infectious smile will be remembered by all who knew him.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his two sisters, Patricia (Patsy) Borders and Katherine Masden; brother, Tommy Masden; and best friends Clyde Bowman and Scotty Scott.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Candice Tandy; brother David Masden (Carol); and sister Patty Masden; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at The Wright Place 501 N. 33rd St on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. where friends and family are invited to gather and honor the legacy of a man who brought light into their lives.
