Sandra Dawn Reed, 90, of Chelmsford, MA died Wednesday, January 22, 2025, with loved ones by her side.
Born in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter William Juno and Pauline Blanche (Stewart) Snow. After graduating from Mt. Pleasant High located in Schenectady, NY, she worked in finance at Sears and Roebuck.
She married the late Ferdinando A. Tommasone of Rotterdam, NY and was widowed at 26. In 1962, Sandra married the late Gerold B. Reed, Jr. of North Adams, MA and together they moved to the Lowell area, settling in Chelmsford.
In the late 60's, Sandra was a Chelmsford Cub Scout Den Mother and was the First Lady of the Gypsum Drywall Contractors International, and for a number of years, traveled the United States alongside her husband, the late Gerold B. Reed, Jr. She taught Hatha Yoga classes at the Lowell YMCA. She worked in finance as a Loan Auditor until 1984, when she retired from Comfed of Lowell. After her retirement, and into her late 70's, Sandra provided home healthcare companion services for seniors in the Westford, Carlisle and Chelmsford communities and often spent weekends pet sitting some very special pups.
Sandra enjoyed being in and around the water her whole life; she loved the ocean, swimming, boating and fishing. She swam competitively in High School in Adirondack District AAU for the Albany Swim Club, and later in life enjoyed many summers swimming and boating with her children on the Island at Winnipesaukee and extended winter family vacations in St. Thomas, USVI.
She loved her home and gardens, especially her prized 'dinner plate' hydrangeas. The birds and wildlife that frequently passed through her yard were the highlight of her day. Proud of her Scottish and French heritage, she loved to tell a good story and make people laugh, and she was great at both. Sandra never turned down a challenge, or ice cream the good stuff!
Sandra was a 63-year communicant of St. John the Evangelist Parish in North Chelmsford.
She is survived by her son, Frederick Scott and his wife, Mary (Colt) Reed of Pittsfield, NH, her two daughters, Kathy Marie (Reed) Fullford of Londonderry, NH and Sandra Jean Reed of Charlotte, NC, her sister, Linda Lee (Snow) and her husband, William Ben Marion of Liberty, NC, her grandchildren; Fallon, Kyle, Aimee, Lauren, Fred and Adam, several great grandchildren, two nieces; Tammy Lynn (Corn) and her husband, Larry Harrison of Johnson City, TN and Amber Lea Webb, of Georgetown, DE, and a nephew, Jeffrey Wayne Corn, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
She was the mother of the late Gerald Byron Reed, III, of Chelmsford, MA and the sister of the late Carole Louise Becker of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
