Sandra Sue Gnepper, 80, of Fremont, passed away surrounded by family at her home on January 24, 2024. She was born on August 9, 1943, in Fremont, Ohio, to Al and Cleone (Bickley) Hetrick. Sandy was a 1961 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. She earned two bachelor’s degrees; the first in dental hygiene from OSU in 1965 and the second in education from the University of Toledo in 1983. Sandy went on to pursue a career as a dental hygienist for 45 years until her retirement. On July 10, 1965, she married her high school sweetheart, Maury Gnepper at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fremont, and he survives.
Sandy is remembered as a people person who loved making people smile and laugh. She loved spoiling her grandchildren rotten as well. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, making Halloween costumes, boating on Lake Erie, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes. She was also an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Maury Gnepper of Fremont; children, Laurie Pezzot and Rob (Colleen) Gnepper; grandchildren, Tyler Pezzot, Max Pezzot, Reed Gnepper, Blake Gnepper, Jenna Pezzot, Luke Gnepper; special niece and nephew, Annie and Daniel Semer, and many other nieces and nephews; sisters, Penny Fausey, Patty (Jerry) Semer; sisters-in-law, Jane Ann and Barb Hetrick. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Al and Ernie Hetrick; brother-in-law, Don Fausey.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 29, 2024, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420. Additional visiting will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 10:00am until 11:00
am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 212 N. Clover Street, Fremont, Ohio. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am at the church. Pastor Matthew Wheeler will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. For those unable to attend, livestreaming of services will be available by following the link provided on Sandy’s obituary page.
