Sandra Rosier Saul, 85, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in Augusta, Georgia.

Born on July 3, 1940, in Augusta, Georgia, she was the middle of three children and grew up with a deep love for God, adventure, music, and her family. She carried these passions with her throughout her life, always eager to share them with others - as a long-time volunteer of The Lydia Project in Augusta as well as several other clubs and organizations in Amelia Island and Chokoloskee, Florida. Sandra was a beacon of faith, warmth, kindness, beauty, and strength.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Sandra gave herself fully to all of those she loved. She instilled this in her two devoted daughters, Tara and Tonya. She married her husband, Richard “Dick” Arlen Saul, in 1977, and together they built a life full of adventure, love, and unwavering partnership.

After graduating from Richmond Academy in 1958 and attending business school, Sandra’s education and training led her to a civilian career as the Assistant to the Chief of Staff, Department of the Army at Fort Gordon, Augusta, Georgia, for 29 years. After retiring from Fort Gordon, she went on to pursue her passions - spending time with her children and grandchildren; playing the piano; enjoying the outdoors playing golf, fishing, hunting; and obtaining her real estate and broker’s license.

Sandra loved deeply and without reservation, whether it was studying her bible with her Sunday school group, being the certified first mate on the Unpre“Dick”table IV, or spending time baking and cooking. Sandra coordinated the gatherings for years for “The Lunch Bunch” - a lovely group of long-time golf friends and players at West Lake Country Club and Jones Creek Golf Club. She always listened with her whole heart, would give everything she had for someone she loved, and had the rare ability to make people feel truly at home in her presence. She was an incredibly beautiful person inside and out.

She is survived by her husband, Richard “Dick” Arlen Saul; her daughters, Tara Merritt-Merchant (Jay) and Tonya Merritt; stepson, Wayne Saul; and her four cherished grandchildren, Rachel Merritt-Doss (Will), Chase Freeman (Sara), Reese Freeman, and Spencer Merchant; sister Connie Rosier Coursey (Harry); brother Wendy Rosier; nephew Harry “Trey” Gregory Coursey III; niece Kelly Rosier Clayton; and numerous extended family.

In addition to her parents, John and Louella Rosier, Sandra was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Freeman “Sly” Rosier and Annie Kearney Rosier, and her maternal grandparents, Roy Hensley and Lena Sprouse Hensley.

The family will receive friends at the visitation on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Platt’s Funeral Home, 337 North Belair Road, Evans, Georgia 30809.

Immediately following the visitation, the funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Platt’s on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Roy McVeigh officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Chase Freeman, Reese Freeman, Spencer Merchant, Jay Merchant, Harry “Trey” Gregory Coursey III, and Will Doss.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Panny Force, Marian Sumrell, Yancey Paschall, Debbie Yano, Jeri Schrader, Eleanor Barbee, and Kay Smith.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity on the Hill, 1330 Monte Sano Ave., Augusta, Georgia 30904 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, grace, and strength will live on in each of us. She was so deeply loved and will be missed more than words can ever say.
