Sandra Barker Scaggs

Sandra Barker Scaggs, a loving mother, devoted wife, and dedicated friend to so
many, passed away on December 28, 2023 after a hard-fought battle with ALS and
Parkinson's Disease.
Sandy is survived by her cherished sons, Tom Scaggs and Scott Scaggs. She leaves
behind a beautiful tapestry of family, including her grandchildren, Parker, Logan,
Mackinley, and Anna Scaggs, and her great grandchild Nick Scaggs. Sandy's
memory will also be carried by her brother, Rex Barker, her nephew, Dustin Barker,
and niece, Jesse McDonald. Her extended family includes Eric Arms, Cayce Scaggs,
Kelsey Scaggs, Nadara Albanese, and Patti Barker as well as an expansive network of
beloved friends.
Sandra was widowed by two husbands-Tom Scaggs, with whom she shared 57
years of marriage and two children, and Tom Claussen, her companion for three
years.
Sandy dedicated much of her professional life to her career as a secretary for the
United Methodist Church, where her commitment and affable nature made her a joy
to be around.
Her life was a testament to taking care of others, and her memory will live on in the
hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her-from Kentucky to Spain,
Oklahoma to Georgia, and finally North Carolina.
Sandy Scaggs will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the dedication
she had to her family and friends.
A celebration of Sandy's life will be held on January 12 at 2205 East Millbrook Road
Raleigh, NC 27604. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to ALS.org.
