Sandra Jeannene Shade, known affectionately by friends and family as Sandie, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024 in
Medford, Oregon surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 21, 1940 in
Bozeman, Montana, she was 83 years old. Sandie's warmth and generosity of spirit were evident from a young age. Her battle with colon cancer demonstrated her courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Sandie stayed strong until the end.
Sandie graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Montana, where she was known for her kindness and quiet determination. She married Steven Shade, the love of her life, and together they built a beautiful family, which was Sandie's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. She was the beloved mother of Deborah Thompson (Joe), Vickie Martin (Floyd), Trey Shade, and Julie Rohde (Wayne). Her love and lessons are carried on through her daughters, who will forever cherish the memories and wisdom she imparted.
In addition to her immediate family, Sandie Ieaves behind her cherished sister Becky Watkins (Stan), her recently found sister Roberta Grinsell, five adoring granddaughters, and nine great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. Each of them will miss her deeply but take comfort in knowing she lives on in their hearts.
Sandie's life was a testament to her loving, selfless, and thoughtful nature. She was a woman of many talents and interests, including reading, cooking, knitting, quilting, and canning. Friends and family often benefited from her culinary creations and the beautiful items she crafted with her hands, each piece a token of her love and care.
Her home was a welcoming haven where all felt loved and cared for, a reflection of Sandie's dedication to her family and friends. She possessed an extraordinary ability to listen and offer wisdom, and her guidance was sought by many. Sandie's legacy is one of unconditional love and selflessness, qualities that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
The void left by her departure is immense, but the imprint Sandie left on the world is indelible. She will be remembered as a cornerstone of her family, a beacon of love, and a woman who gave selflessly of herself to ensure the happiness and well-being of others. Sandie's family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and medical staff who provided comfort and support during her final days. Her grace and dignity throughout her life, and especially in her illness, will never be forgotten.
As we say goodbye to Sandie, we celebrate her life and the countless ways she enriched ours. She was a guiding light, a source of strength, and a gentle soul who will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A ceremony will be held by the family to honor Sandie's memory at Perl Funeral Home on Friday, April 5th at 11:30 am.
