Sandra "Sandy" Shafer

Sandra "Sandy" Shafer (Thompson), age 68, of Cameron, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Monday, November 10, 2025. Family and friends are asked to join the family for a visitation on November 22, 2025 from 2-4 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale, Texas.
Sandra was born on July 24, 1957, to Alvin Thompson and Sally "Idola" Thompson, in Linden, Texas. She married the love of her life, Harvey "Leroy" Shafer on April 20, 1983. Sandra was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. When having family gatherings you could always find her in the kitchen cooking up the best tasting meals for any occasion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Idola Thompson, her in-laws, H.E. and Virginia Shafer; sister Annette Reed, nieces, Lisa Hobbs and Renee Phillips, and nephews Michael Thompson and Billy Thompson.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey "Leroy" Shafer; 4 children, Chastity Coon and husband Christian of Temple, Tonya Dinnerson and husband Jay of Cameron, Darla Martinez and husband Jr. of Cameron, and Kristine Shafer of Cameron, fur baby Patty; 10 grandchildren, Jasmine Shafer, Marquette Shafer, Eddie "Tre" West, Darius West, Kanye West, Gabbie Watkins, Cody Coon, Canon Coon, Jocelyn Martinez and Colton Martinez, fur grandbaby Doo-Dew; 8 cherished great grandchildren; brothers Royce Thompson, Billy Thompson, Gary Thompson, Rickey Thompson; sisters Lawana Howard; chosen sisters and best friends, Janice Mills, Odessa Payne, and numerous nieces and nephews.
