Sandra Sue "Sandy" Skidmore Karlen, 81, a resident of Georgetown Road Elkins, passed from this life Friday, September 5, 2025, at home.
Sandy was born Saturday, November 27, 1943, in Owing, a daughter of the late Ray Skidmore and Edith Hughes Skidmore. On July 13, 1963, she married Harold Glen Karlen Jr. who survives at home. They celebrated sixty-two years of marriage.
Left to cherish her memory are three children, Michael Karlen and wife Susan, Schell Hopwood and husband Kurt, Scott Karlen and wife Lisa, all of Elkins, grandchildren, Jima Karlen and companion Jon, Amber Gainer and husband Cody, Kollin Hopwood and wife Katie, Karli Harlan and husband Cole, Alec Karlen and companion Hunter, Isabella Karlen and fiancé Ben, and Hudson, great-grandchildren, Andi, Karder, Max, Woods, and Kooper, siblings, Jack Skidmore and wife Linda, Geraldine Davis, niece, Barbara Meganthaler whom she considered a sister, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents were four siblings, Dale, Marie, David, and Ronal.
Sandy was a graduate of Elkins High School. She had been employed at Bendix Radio in the blueprint room, graduated from Baltimore Beauty Academy and worked locally as a beautician. She retired from Kroger in Elkins after twenty years of service. Sandy enjoyed playing Bingo, shopping, and travelling; especially to anywhere by the ocean. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Above all, the most important thing to Sandy was her family.
Sandy's request for cremation was honored.
