Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kerr Brothers Funeral Home - Harrodsburg Road on Jan. 9, 2026.
On January 7, 2026, the Lord welcomed home His faithful servant, Sandra Christine Stapleton Robinson, 78. Born on June 11, 1947, in
West Liberty, Kentucky, she carried a spirit of grace, compassion, and unwavering faith throughout her life. A graduate of the University of Kentucky, she went on to build a life and career shaped by her devotion to others.
Sandy built a long and meaningful career as an interior designer. Her early work took her to Gulfport and Biloxi, Mississippi, before she returned home to Lexington, where she served for many years as the interior designer for the VA Medical Center. Her eye for beauty and her care for others were evident in every space she touched.
She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Shalain Robinson, who was the greatest joy of her life. Sandy was not only a devoted mother but also Sarah's closest friend, confidante, and constant source of love. She is also survived by her first cousin, Joan Irene Amyx, who was more like a little sister than a cousin, and with whom she shared a lifelong, loving bond. Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Denver Stapleton (father), Stella Coffey (mother), and Wallace Coffey (stepfather).
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Sandy was an active member of Centenary Methodist Church and was honored to serve as a Stephen Minister in her later years, walking alongside others with compassion, prayer, and a listening heart. She participated faithfully in Sunday school, women's Bible studies, including BSF, and joyfully welcomed others as a Sunday greeter. Her compassion, warmth, and willingness to walk beside others in difficult seasons were hallmarks of her character.
Sandy's generosity reached into every corner of her community. She devoted countless hours to volunteering for organizations close to her heart, including Kentucky Ballet Theatre, The Salvation Army, and Best Friends Adult Day Center. Her service reflected her belief in lifting others up and sharing God's love through action.
Throughout her life, Sandy found joy in the companionship of her dachshunds, each one a beloved friend. She leaves behind her cherished Gracie, who brought her comfort and delight in her final years.
Sandy will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her loving spirit, her creativity, and the compassion she poured into her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the faith she lived out with a servant's heart, and the daughter who was her greatest blessing.
Visitation will be held at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Road,
Lexington, KY, on Monday, January 12th, from 5–7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 13th, at 10 a.m., with interment at Lexington Cemetery immediately following.
