Sandra M. Toika Boyd (nee Corbly), 83, of Batavia, IL died peacefully Monday at Lombard Place Assisted Living and Memory Care Center in Lombard, IL.
She was born November 3, 1941 to Parker and Elizabeth Corbly in Oak Park, Illinois, grew up in Villa Park, Illinois and graduated from York High School.
Sandra is survived by her current husband of 30 years, Charles; her brother John (Edie) Corbly; children from her first marriage Michael (Barb) Toika and Lynne (Jeffrey) Schwartz; and Charles's children Kim Stroberg and Deborah Boyd.
Sandra is also survived by the eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren her families have blessed her with: Jared (Kellie) Stroberg, Ryan Toika, Cindy Toika, Rebecca (Gary) Hansen, Andrea (Edward) Eisman, Sam Stroberg, Charlie Stroberg, and Nicole Schwartz; and great-grandchildren Felix Stroberg, Cayden and Mason Eisman, and Georgina Hansen.
Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 26 years, Robert D. Toika (d. 1993) and son Robert V. Toika (d. 1993). She found herself adopted by a little stray, Kelsey-dog, who along with her dog Barney, provided great solace during that difficult time.
Sandra enjoyed family and found great purpose in caring for others. She loved vacationing in Door County, Wisconsin, spending winters in Fort Myers Beach, Florida and early spring on Hilton Head Island, and sharing those times with her families. She enjoyed painting ceramics and craft sewing for many years, browsing craft shows, particularly at the holidays, and treasured time with friends.
