Sandra (Sandy) Turro (nee Misenti), 83, passed away October 4, 2022 in Stillwater, MN. Born in Middletown, CT on December 2, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Concepta (nee Garafalo) and Sebastian Misenti. She was the wife of the late Nicholas J. Turro, Jr. with whom she shared 52 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters: Cynthia Harty (James) and Claire Turro, her 5 grandchildren: Nicholas Harty, Charles Styrbicki, Catherine Harty, Maria Styrbicki, and Julia Styrbicki. She is also survived by her brother, Sebastian (Jack) Misenti (Patricia).
Sandy met the love of her life, Nick, in kindergarten. They proudly displayed a picture of their kindergarten class in their home. After graduating from Albertus Magnus college in June 1960, she married Nick on August 6, 1960 and they moved to Pasadena, CA. After 3 years in California, they moved to Cambridge, MA and in 1964 they moved to New York City after Nick joined the faculty at Columbia University. In 1972, they moved to Tenafly, NJ where she lived until June 2020.
Sandy loved her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends. She had an engaging and welcoming personality and a beautiful smile. She became a second mother to the students in her husband's chemistry group. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
