Sandra “Susie” (Wiens) Ulbrich was born on December 18, 1946, in Newton, KS to Gilbert and Eunice (Hash) Wiens. Susie was the eighth of eleven children. Susie was part of the first graduating class from Remington High School in 1964. She went on to earn her certificate in Tax Accounting and Payroll. She also sold airplane components. Along the way, on August 31, 1968, in Furley, KS, Susie married David Ulbrich and became a military spouse and enjoyed becoming a loving mom to her beautiful children.
Susie loved camping, boating, playing pitch, and sewing. She never turned down a good cup of coffee. Family, especially her grandkids, were very important to Susie. She loved spending time with them and attending their sporting events. Not only did Susie enjoy watching the kids play basketball, but she also loved watching KU basketball!
Susie’s loving family includes her husband, David, children, Derick Ulbrich, Dawn (Dave) Haymond, Deandra (Tom) Sommers, bonus son, Todd Pomeroy, grandchildren, Daniel (Becky) Ulbrich, Amber Dyllan) Ulbrich, Shelby Ulbrich, Josh Ulbrich, Alyssia (Caleb) Haymond, Devin (Samantha) Haymond, Jarrett Sommers, Jacob Sommers, and Kara Sommers, great grandchildren, Daelynn, Dustin, Hudson, Emerson, siblings, Mert, Bev, Charlie, Icky, Barbara, Shirley,Gayle, Teresa, Jodi, Randy and many nieces and nephews.
Susie passed away on Monday, May 09, 2022, in Newton, KS. Family will greet friends on Thursday, May 12, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater, KS. Funeral service for Susie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday May 13, 2022, at Federated Church, Whitewater, KS. Burial to follow at Green Valley Cemetery, Furley, KS. Memorial Contributions may be made to K9s for Warriors, in care of Lamb Funeral Home. Please sign her online guest book and leave a memory of Susie at yazelmeglifh.com.
