Sandra (Sandy) Jene Wharton Bedwell was born on October 10, 1956 in Kansas City, Missouri to Buck and Lois Wharton. As a young child she grew up in Bakersfield, California along with Adrian, Butler and Archie, Missouri. Her family often traveled between Missouri and California. They lived on a small farm with a few animals, where she enjoyed riding horses. This is where Sandy learned to drive in the pasture, stirring up lots of dust in the process.
As a teenager, Sandy had a few different jobs. She worked in a nursing home, at a hotel as a housekeeper and she was a waitress. Sandy was close to her two sisters Cathy and Robbie. They were like the three musketeers, always together, getting in trouble and arguing over who the prettiest one was.
Sandy was a loving mother to her four boys DJ Allen, Danny Allen, Nick Alkire and Doug Bedwell.
In 1994 Sandy met Kelly Bedwell, and it wasn't long before they tied the knot on New Year's Eve that same year. Even her sons could see how happy Kelly made Sandy. They saw how her beautiful smile turned radiant when Kelly was around. That same smile remained for their thirty years of marriage.
Sandy was a long-time homemaker, and loved to plan get togethers and hang out with family. She was the life of the party and quite ornery. She was funny and kind, but wasn't afraid to speak her mind. She loved her family with her whole heart. She loved Christmas time and the Fourth of July's that she hosted were always a big family hit.
Sandy loved going to yard-sales and buying purses. She loved taking care of the many plants and dogs that filled her home. Her dogs were her babies. She said if she ever won the lottery, she would have bought a farm to take in all the stray dogs. It's a good thing she never won the lottery!
Sandy's love for her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. They will miss the effort that she poured daily, into those she loved.
She is proceeded in death by father Buck Wharton, mother Lois Wharton, son Nickolas Alkire, brothers Doug Wharton and Jimmy Walker, sisters Cathy Minnick and Robin Laughlin.
She is survived by husband Kelly Bedwell, sons, DJ Allen, Danny Allen, and Doug Bedwell, daughter in law Jeana Alkire, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
