Crouse - Mrs. Sandra Johnson "Sandy" Cunningham, 74, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
Sandy was born on August 9, 1950 in Asheville, NC daughter of the late Irl H. Johnson, Jr. and Mildred Radford Johnson. She graduated with a Masters Degree from UNC Chapel Hill and was a die hard Carolina Tarheel fan. Sandy was retired from Nationwide Insurance in Cherryville. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Cherryville. Sandy served on the Board of Directors for the Cherryville Chamber of Commerce and was a beloved coach and board member for the Cherryville Dixie Girls softball. She loved her farm and farm animals.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Eric Johnson.
Survivors include two sons, Brian Cunningham and wife Shizumi of Florida; Raymond Cunningham; two daughters Anjelica Cunningham of Crouse and Breena Cunningham of Cherryville; seven grandchildren, James, Sky, Brooklynn, Lilly, Braylon, Braxton and Eric.
The family will receive friends from 10:30AM to 12:15PM on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30PM on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Hendricks officiating.
A private family burial will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler, NC.
Memorials may be made to Cherryville Dixie Girls Softball, PO Box 641, Cherryville, NC 28021.
