Sandy Eaves Obituary

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Sandra Kay Eaves, affectionately known as Sandy, was born on December 22, 1948, in Athens, Tennessee. She departed this life on November 14, 2024, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, compassion, and selflessness.
Sandy devoted herself to the well-being of others throughout her life. After relocating to Cookeville from Cleveland, TN in 1979, she embarked on a commendable career that exemplified her dedication and hard work. Sandy's journey began as a cosmetologist, where she eventually helped to bring the cosmetology program to Bradley County High School. As the first cosmetology instructor at the school, she built the program from the ground up. After settling in Cookeville, she spent time working at Plateau Mental Health Center and ultimately, at Averitt Express, where she served as a purchasing agent for over 30 years. Her tenure at Averitt, which concluded with her retirement in 2019, was marked by a steadfast commitment to excellence and the people with whom she worked.
Not only was Sandy a dedicated professional, but she also exemplified the qualities of a remarkable mother and grandmother. She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely, pouring her heart into nurturing them. Her son, Heath Hamilton, and daughter, Heather Jones, along with their loving spouses, Krista and Joey, were her pride and joy. Sandy took great delight in the lives of her grandchildren, Alyson Bain, Cooper Hamilton, Spence Jones, and Blake Jones, often capturing precious moments through her lens as she enjoyed photography.
Sandy's vibrant personality touched everyone who crossed her path. She was known for being selfless; always putting others first, a true fighter in the face of adversity. Her love for flowers and gardening was a testament to her nurturing spirit—growing beauty and life all around her. Friends and family alike will remember her as a precious lady whose kindness and gentle strength radiated warmth and comfort.
She is survived by her daughter, Heather Jones and husband Joey; her son, Heath Hamilton and wife Krista; her cherished grandchildren, Alyson Bain, Cooper Hamilton, Spence Jones, and Blake Jones; and sister-in-law, Bettie Eaves (Floyd). Sandy is also mourned by a host of extended family who were blessed to know her.
Though her parents, Jordan Eaves and Beatrice Evans Eaves, along with siblings Leonard Eaves, Dorothy (Herman) Morrow, Gladys (Jasper) Rogers, and Floyd (Maxine) Eaves, have gone before her, their memories will live on through the stories and love they shared.
Sandy's family will receive friends at Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home on November 17, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on November 18, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Bros. Buddy Johnson and Andy Brewster will officiate.  Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery.
Joey Jones, Blake Jones, Spence Jones, Cooper Hamilton, Shawn Sells and Danny Beaty will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to Putnam County Family YMCA's GO PINK Program, 235 Raider Drive, Cookeville, TN 38501.
Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111. Share memories and condolences at www.hhhfunerals.com.
