Sandy was a loving mom to her daughters and a loving "Mimzy" to her grandchildren and was very active and engaged in their lives. Her family was her greatest joy, and she spent as much time as possible with each of them, devoting quality time not only to her kids and grandkids, but also to her sisters, nieces and nephews. Her brilliant sense of humor, loving nature and deep compassion for others were her greatest gifts.
Sandy spent most of her career as an early childhood educator and was passionate about the importance of early education. She loved every child in her care from the minute they arrived in her classroom and continued to love them when they moved on, often continuing to talk about children that she had in her class years ago. She was very close to the children, families and her co-workers at Deaconess Children's Enrichment Center where she spent the last several years of her career.
Sandy had a deep connection to nature and a passion for health and fitness. She ran or walked outside every day, sun, rain or snow. The last photo she took was of the dawn sky on her morning run. She would be so happy to know that her healthy organs have been donated to others, and her spirit will be celebrating with those people and cheering them on through their recovery and for the rest of their lives.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Deaconess Gateway Neuro ICU, especially Poody, and her organ donor advocate, Sassy for their compassion and care.
