Saniel Zegarra, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2025, in Richardson, Texas. Born on November 8, 1942, in Peru, Saniel's journey of 82 years was marked by an unwavering spirit of courage and a profound dedication to his loved ones.
Saniel grew up in Ancash, Peru, with his parents, Ventura and Elvira (Astupina) Zegarra, who predeceased him, along with six siblings. Also preceding him in death were his son-in-law Sergio Reynoso and mother-in-law Lorenza Garcia. He was the beloved husband of Estefania Zegarra, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of 57 years. Together, they raised a family that included their daughters, Rocio Bernal and her husband Edgar, Diana Reynoso, and Ana Zevallos. Saniel was a proud grandfather to Adam, Julian, Cristian, and Jacob Reynoso; Mariana and Adriana Zevallos; and Diego Bernal. His family was his pride and joy, and he instilled in them the values of love and generosity.
Saniel's courage was evident when he and his wife left Peru to move to Chicago before finally settling in Garland. His journey was a testament to his adventurous spirit and his desire to provide a better life for his family. While he cherished his Peruvian roots, he embraced the opportunities and friendships he found in the United States.
In his professional life, Saniel was the esteemed owner of an automobile body shop, where his love for mechanics shone brightly. His work was not only a means to support his family but also a passion that he pursued with dedication. Saniel's commitment to his craft earned him respect in the automotive community and among his peers, who often referred to him as Señor Lima.
Beyond his work, Saniel had a zest for life that was contagious. He enjoyed traveling and had an insatiable appetite for different foods. History fascinated him, and he could spend hours recounting stories of the past. He loved his home and working on special projects around the house and in his lawn and gardens.
Saniel's legacy is carried on by his surviving family members, including his brother Selemires Zegarra, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews who looked up to him as a source of inspiration and guidance. His character was embodied by his courageous nature, his loving heart, and his generous spirit. Those who knew Saniel were touched by his warmth and the genuine care he extended to everyone he met. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
