Calan Thomas Gilbert, of Rowlett, Texas, passed away on September 20, 2025. Born in Dallas on January 3, 1999, to Mike and Lyree Gilbert, his life was a testament to the enduring spirit of love, laughter, and loyalty.

Calan's journey began in Dallas, where he was welcomed into the world with open arms by his loving parents and later by his siblings, Charis Quinn and her spouse Jeshua, Christian Gilbert, and Cathilyn "Cathi" Fortner with her spouse Travis. His son, Dallas Michael Gilbert, was the light of his life, and together they shared a bond that was truly unbreakable. Calan was a cherished brother, a devoted father, and an uncle who took great joy in the lives of his nieces and nephews, Ulysses "Uly," Caspian "Caspi," and Evangeline "Evie" Quinn, as well as Caison and Abigail "Abi" Fortner. The family eagerly awaits the arrival of Baby "Love" Quinn in December, who will hear many stories of Calan's kindness and humor.

Calan's family tree was rooted in love, with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss his presence dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frances and Betty Gilbert, J.W. and Bettie Young, and his Aunt Wanda Manor, all of whom helped shape the man, he became.

A loyal friend to the very end, Calan's love for his family knew no bounds. He never missed an opportunity to hug and kiss his mother goodnight, a ritual that exemplified his caring nature. His devotion extended to his faith community at Church In The City, where he served on the security team. Calan was recognized as a mighty protector, a man whose strength was matched only by his compassion.

An ardent patriot, Calan loved his country deeply, but his love for Jesus shone brightest in his life. His faith was the cornerstone of his existence, guiding him in every action and decision.

Calan's interests were as wide-ranging as his generous spirit. He relished the times spent fishing, where the serenity of nature was a perfect complement to his vibrant personality. Cooking for family and friends was another of his joys, as he loved nothing more than bringing people together over a good meal, especially on his favorite holiday July 4th. His love for diet Dr. Pepper was well-known, as was his ability to light up any room with his funny and goofy antics. While Calan was a faithful Dallas Cowboys fan, he was a true "cowboy at heart." He always made sure to get out to the country where he could be alone with the Lord to recharge.

To describe Calan as loving and funny barely scratches the surface of the man he was. His legacy is one of heartfelt connections and laughter, a life lived with the intention of bringing joy to others. Calan Thomas Gilbert will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
