Santiago "Pache" C. Aguillon Jr., age 68, of Temple, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at his home. He was born in Cameron, Texas, on January 13, 1957, to Santiago C. Aguillon Sr. and Francisca (Mendoza) Aguillon.
Santiago grew up in Troy, where he built lifelong friendships and graduated from Troy High School in 1976. Not long after, he married the love of his life, Laura (Gross) Aguillon, in July of 1978 in Temple. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, love, and hard work. They were blessed with three sons and a daughter and made Troy their forever home-a place where they raised their family and poured their hearts into their community.
In 1986 he made a life decision to take up painting as his profession. He took great pride in his craft, he covered Texas just as Sherwin-Williams covered the world and enhanced local businesses as a private painter. With every stroke of his brush, Santiago left behind more than color-he left behind care, integrity, and pride in a job well done. His hands told stories, not just of labor, but of love. Then for over 15 years, Santiago worked as a painter for J&J Maintenance at Fort Hood.
Faith was central to Santiago's life. He was a devoted member of Full Gospel Holiness Church in Temple, where he joyfully praised the Lord with song and served as a minister. Whether he was singing hymns or guiding others through the Word of God, Santiago gave freely of his heart and spirit. He was the kind of man who lifted others-always ready to pray with you, encourage you, or simply listen.
Outside of work and ministry, Santiago found joy in life's simple pleasures-watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, spending time with his grandchildren, and enjoying the deep bond of family. To us, he was more than a husband, brother, father, or grandfather-he was the foundation of our family, our steady rock, our faithful guide.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort knowing Santiago is now at peace with his Lord and Savior. His love lives on in all of us who were fortunate enough to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Guadalupe Aguillon and Domingo Aguillon; and two sisters, MarieAnn Herrera and Rosa Davila.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 46 years, Laura Aguillon of Temple; sons: Santiago "Trey" Aguillon and wife Mayra of Troy, John Aguillon and wife Jessica of Troy, and Christopher Aguillon and wife Sarah of Midlothian; daughter Angelica Lamb and husband Jarrid of Troy; and nine treasured grandchildren: Ariel, Arabella, Spencer, Ruth, Henry, Abigail, Rhys, Lyla, and Rhett. Santiago is also survived by his brothers Marcelo Aguillon, Sr. of Troy, Miguel and wife Brandy Aguillon of Temple, sister Angelina and husband Robert Flores of Temple, brother-in-law David Herrera, Sr. of Temple, cherished brothers of the faith Sunday Luna of Temple and Jorge Castillo of Belton; many nieces and nephews, and numerous other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Services to celebrate Santiago's life will be held at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home in Temple on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor John Ratliff. Following the service, Santiago will be laid to rest at Pleasant View Cemetery in Troy, Texas. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
