Sara Anne Jones, 81, of Barney, died on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born on September 9, 1942, in Moultrie to the late James and Mildred Plair Moody. She received her bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State College (VSU) and taught school for a few years before becoming a full-time caregiver. She was an animal lover and enjoyed working in her yard but was passionate about craft making and constructing blue bird houses. She was of the Christian faith.
She is survived by her son, James E. Jones and a daughter, Kimberlee A. Jones, both of Barney as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, Edgar L. Jones.
A graveside service for Sara Anne Jones will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Campground Cemetery in Morven with Stan Folsom officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgia Sheriffs Youth Homes (https://www.georgiasheriffsyouth.org/donate/).
