Sue Reid Bennett, age 88, beloved resident of Valdosta, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Born on March 27, 1937, to the late Lewis H. Reid and Lonnie Hardin Reid, Sue was a cherished daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
Sue dedicated much of her life to her career as a bookkeeper at Allied Building Material before retiring. She was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church and found great joy in her family and the companionship of her beloved cats.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Gary Spells of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Marie Bennett of Callahan, Florida; granddaughter Rebecca Bennett and great-grandchild Daniel Bennett, both of Callahan, Florida. Sue also leaves behind her brother Harry Reid of Richmond, Virginia, sister Sara Nelms of Newnan, Georgia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sue was preceded in death by her sons Brian Bennett and Scott Bennett.
A memorial service celebrating Sue's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602. Online condolences may be shared at www.mclanecares.com.
