Lydia – A memorial gathering will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 9, 2025, to celebrate the life of Sara Thibodeaux LaBiche, 56, who passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
A resident of Lydia, Sara was born in New Iberia on October 18, 1968, to the late Junius Thibodeaux, Jr. and Barbara Pinell Thibodeaux. A 1986 graduate of New Iberia Senior High, Sara possessed a servant's heart; her work was not simply a job but an essential part of her identity. She began her law enforcement career at the Jeanerette Police Department, where she devoted four years of her life before continuing her journey with the Chitimacha Police Department. There, she thrived as a sergeant and communications officer, exemplifying the very definition of service. She will be remembered for her dedication, her quick smile, and readiness to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
Sara's vibrant personality shone as bright as her favorite color, red. She had an endearing fondness for ladybugs, a symbol of good fortune. She and her daughter, Ciera shared a bond as they adorably shared matching ladybug tattoos—a beautiful testament to their profound connection.
A lover of travel and swimming, Sara embraced life’s adventures with enthusiasm, always seeking to make memories with those she adored. She was not just a mother, grandmother, aunt, or friend; she was the heart of her family, and she will be deeply missed.
Sara is survived by daughter, Ciera Canfield (Courtney); grandchildren, Clairissa LaBiche, Abel Beard, and Aaron Britt; siblings, Emma Valentine (Robert), Eric Thibodeaux, and Kevin Thibodeaux; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Junius Thibodeaux, III.
Sara leaves behind a legacy that will echo in the hearts of many. Her warmth, spirit, and unwavering love will live on forever. May she rest in peace.
