Sara Monahan Obituary

Sara Daniele Monahan, age 57, of Hilliard, Florida, peacefully passed away on September 29, 2025, surrounded by loving family and a cherished friend. Born on August 2, 1968, in Dothan, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late John Pridgen and Shelby Jean Wheeler Pridgen. Sara spent her childhood in Panama City, Florida, where she built a life characterized by quiet strength and a vibrant spirit. She earned her associate's degree from Gulf Coast State College and served as co-director of Omni Homecare, where she made a lasting impact on those she served. However, her true passion lay in bringing joy to others through her exceptional talent for planning unforgettable weddings and festive gatherings, infusing each celebration with fun, beauty, delicious food and treats, and her own special touch of magic.

An adventurer at heart, Sara loved the great outdoors, whether embarking on hunting and fishing trips with her soulmate of 16 years, Grady Starr, or just sitting outside on the front porch, enjoying the beautiful view of the mature trees in their front yard. Her creativity knew no bounds as she crafted cozy blankets for her family and baked delightful treats that warmed their hearts and homes.

Sara cherished her time with her daughter Megan, especially their treasured girls' days spent thrift shopping, getting ready for Mardi Gras, taking Jaxson and Maxwell on spontaneous day trips, baking, cooking family recipes, watching romantic "chick flicks" (although she frequently fell asleep during the opening credits, lol), and creating lasting memories. Sara, affectionally known as Nana, had a special bond with her grandsons, Jaxson and Maxwell. From the moment they were born, she cherished every second with them, and there was nothing she loved more than being their Nana.

Family was everything to Sara. She adored her children and grandchildren and poured love into every moment spent with them. The deep bond she shared with Grady was one of companionship and shared adventures, and she held a special affection for their beloved dog, Cletus, who no doubt welcomed her to Heaven with a slobbery kiss and a look that said, "I'm glad that you're here, did you bring the treats?"

Sara's spirit will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John "Tommy" Pridgen; and brother-in-law, Brian Humpfer.

Sara is survived by her loving daughter, Megan Wahl; her forever companion, Grady Starr; bonus children, Jeremy (Jayme) Starr, Holly (Cody) Brooks, and Chris Starr; her cherished grandchildren, Jaxson Wahl, Maxwell Wahl, Landon Johnson, Logan Johnson, Colby Starr, Tinley Starr, Emery Starr, Josh Starr, Sawyer Starr, Charlotte Starr, Rebecca Brooks, and Kylie Brooks.

A Celebration of Sara's Life will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Nassau Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Ellis officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The arrangements are under the care and direction of Nassau Funeral Home, 541720 US-1, Callahan, Florida 32011. 904-879-1770. Visit www.nassaufh.com to sign the family's guest book.
