Bryant-Grant Funeral Home and CrematorySara Sue Roberts, 83, of Franklin, NC, passed away Monday, January 19, 2026. She was born November 1, 1942, in Port Arthur, TX to the late Harry Clarence Ellerbee and Ada Voorhies Neal. Sara was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Franklin. She worked in home health as a caregiver and was a loving wife and a devoted mother to four sons. Sara loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they made her very happy. Sara loved plants, flowers, crafts, the mountains and her three cats.
She is survived by two sons, Bret Wayne Altom (Angela) and "Bubba" John Bart Altom (Lisa); five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy Ellerbee (Effie) and several nieces and nephews.
Sara was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald "Bud" Grady Altom, Jr; her spouse, Pete Roberts, two sons, Gerald David Altom and Michael Roy Altom; a sister, Clara Jane Harbes, and many good friends, including the friends of the late Bill Wilson, 17,327 days.
A memorial service will be Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church located at 26 Church St. Franklin, NC. The family will receive friends flowing in Tartan Hall following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 514 Daniels St. #109, Raleigh, NC 27605.
