Sara Williams Shick died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday August 24, 2025. Sara was born May 17, 1948, and grew up in Birchrunville where she developed a deep love for the environment, open spaces, and history of Chester County. She attended the University of Pittsburgh where she met and married Thomas (TR) Shick. After working for government contractors in Northern Virginia for many years, the couple decided to retire and moved to Birchrunville in 2002. They built a house on Davis Lane close to Sara's sisters, Harriet Stone and Martha Willams. Sara was active in the West Vincent Township Planning commission, Environmental Advisory Council, Open Space Review Board, and Parks and Recreation Commission. With her sister, Harriet, she provided the leadership to develop West Vincent's Historical Commission and preservation standards. Sara served for eight years on the board of the Chester County Historical Preservation Network and in 2024 was named as the Jane L.S. Davidson Preservationist of the year. She was elected to and served on the West Vincent Board of Supervisors from 2020 until her illness forced her to resign in 2024.

When her husband died in March 2009, Sara and her house became a refuge and place of support for those who needed help or temporary shelter. She was sociable, energetic, generous, funny, and welcoming. There were always guests at her table on Saturday morning for "scones." Feeling a need for more community engagement, Sara started "West Vincent Voices" a curated website where civility reigned and neighbors could share stories, information, and thoughts about West Vincent, as well as ask for advice or offer help. In the last decade of her life, Albert (Ted) Mollegen became her partner providing the personal support and advice that had been missing since the death of her husband.

Sara is survived by her sisters, Harriet Williams Stone and Martha Williams, brothers-in-law, Larry Stone and Richard Vezzosi, her niece Julia Stone, and her nephew David Stone.

There will be a service for Sara at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in West Vincent in the near future.
