Sara F. Wheeler, 84 of Hendersonville, Stoneboro, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. Sara was born in Merkel, TX on September 3, 1941 to the late Roy and Gertrude Hunter and was raised by her grandmother, Ina Hunter.
Sara was a longtime member of the Hendersonville Church where she served as a Lay Leader. Sara was very deep in her faith and loved Jesus. She enjoyed sewing and reading and birdwatching, loving to see cardinals. Most of all she was a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, loving her family very much.
Sara married her beloved husband: Lawrence “Larry” Wheeler on July 8, 1962, he survives at home. She is also survived by her daughters: Gaylene Wheeler of Hendersonville; Kayla (Bruce) Mitchell of Cedar Park, TX; and Kandell (Wes) Scruggs of Trent, TX, grandchildren: Hunter; Hailey (Jordan); Amanda (Justin); Lexi; and Sawyer (Stormy), great-grandchildren: Lilyana; Emmalyn; Adalinn; Calvin; Elijah; Porter; and Cayde, sister: Sandra Mitchell, brothers: Tracy (Tracy Lynn) Hunt; and Randy (Kim) Hunt, brother-in-law: Joe Wheeler, and sister-in-law Penny (Norm) DeLong. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and all that called her mom.
In addition to her parents Sara was preceded in death by her niece: LaDonna, and nephew: Jason.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to ROSE AND BLACK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. STONEBORO & SANDY LAKE.
Visitation will take place at the Hendersonville Church, 1013 Jackson Center – Polk Rd, Stoneboro, from 12 pm – 2 pm on Wednesday, November 5. A funeral service will follow visitation at 2 pm with Reverend Janet Pratt, church pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in Center Cemetery, Polk.
Donations in Sara’s name can be made to one’s favorite charity.
