Mrs. Sarah ‘Christine’ McElhannon Adams, 90, of Elberton, wife of 70 years to Jerry Kenneth Adams, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
Christine, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, was born in Atlanta on July 30, 1934, the only child of the late Horace McElhannon and Leadie Belle Hall McElhannon. She was a graduate of Avondale High School in Decatur.
While living in Decatur, Jerry and Christine were very active members of Midway Presbyterian Church. In the mid 1990s, Christine and Jerry moved to Elberton and joined Concord United Methodist Church where they became dedicated members for many years. Christine was always active with the women’s groups at both Midway and Concord. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and never missed an opportunity to go shopping. Christine loved to fish, enjoyed working in her flower gardens, and through the years loved walking her many dogs down to the lake. One of her very favorite pastimes was visiting with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Jerry, her only daughter April Case and son-in-law Ted Case of Fair Play, South Carolina; her grandchildren who loved their “Grandmama”: grandson Andy Case (Victoria Forrister) of Smyrna, Georgia and granddaughter Abby Case Brown (RC Brown) of Savannah, Georgia.
Funeral services celebrating Christine’s life will be conducted on Monday, January 27, at 12noon at her beloved Concord United Methodist Church in Elberton with the Revs. Bryan Smith and Thomas Moon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to Concord United Methodist Church, 2515 Harmony Road, Elberton, GA 30635.
