Sarah Ellen Barber

Sarah Ellen Barber, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away November 12, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born to Oran and Lula Clements, Sarah dedicated her life to her children and her husband.

She is survived by her children, Debbie Miller (husband Steven), Dennis Barber and Kim Etherton-Hayes (husband Jim); two granddaughters Krista McMillan (husband John}, and Alicea Dawes; five great grandchildren McKenzie, Danaya, Charles, Max and Brayden. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Kenneth Barber and son Kent Duane Barber.

Sarah decided, after having raised her children, to go back to school. She attended Chemeketa Community College and took administrative/secretarial courses. After completing her courses, she obtained a position at Friendsview in Newberg. She loved working there in her position as Marketing/Admin Asst. where she assisted residents in purchasing homes at Friendsview and knew from that time on that she wanted to live there when the time came.

Sarah was always involved in volunteer activities, lastly at Friendsview in the Market Place and Resale shop. That is of course, when she wasn't busy putting her art talents to use.

She made beautiful quilts, a tradition passed down from her mother and grandmother, and she painted, starting out with oil landscape paintings and later painting on China. She was always modest about her talents but those of us who saw the finished pieces were in awe of her art and creativity skills.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel, 207 Villa Road, Newberg, OR 97132 with viewing prior from 9:00 – 9:50am. Graveside services will follow at Valley View Memorial Park in Newberg.
