Sarah A. "Sallie" Bedrossian

Niantic - Sarah "Sallie" A. Bedrossian, 86, of Niantic, passed away peacefully Sept. 2, 2025, at home, with family by her side. Sallie was born in Sandusky, Ohio Dec. 16, 1938, to Howard Smith and Lucille Leapply Smith.

She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in Toledo, Ohio, and while working as an RN in Toledo, met her late husband, Guy Bedrossian, whom she described as the mysterious and exotic neighbor in her apartment building. They married in 1962, and moved to Chicago where Sallie worked as a pediatric nurse and their first son Peter was born. They eventually moved back to Connecticut and settled in Wethersfield, where their children, Barry and Sara, were born. Sallie and Guy raised their family in Wethersfield and were fortunate to spend their summers in Niantic.

Sallie and Guy were avid members of St. George Armenian Church in Hartford for many years. Once retired in Naples, Fla., they became active members of the Armenian community there. Sallie rarely complained and was a very warm and loving person. She welcomed all into her home, as if they were family. She loved throwing parties and did so often.

Sallie became "Meme" in 2006, when she took on her role as grandmother. She adored and enjoyed spoiling her four grandchildren.

Sallie is survived by her sons, Peter (Rick Lamoreaux) of Philadelphia and Barry (Erin) of Burlington; her daughter, Sara (Tom Clark) of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, Molly and Morgan Bedrossian, Camryn and Clayton Clark; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers, Richard and Dennis Smith.

Sallie's family would like to express their deep gratitude to many caregivers for their devotion and kindness over the past two years.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at St. George Armenian Church, 22 White Street, Hartford, followed immediately by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at church.
