Sarah Elizabeth Worthy Black, a beacon of faith and love in her community, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Born into a life of compassion and service, Sarah dedicated herself to her family, her church, and her community with a selfless and loving heart.

A lifelong resident of Alexander City, AL, Sarah was the cherished matriarch of a large and loving family. She is survived by her devoted children, Sharon (Earnest) Howard, Grady (Susan) Black, John Robert Black, and Henry W. Black. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren, Shari Lynn (Stephen) Holley, Daniel Levi Thrower, Christopher Garland Black, Cassie Collin Black, Taylor Warren Black, Shane Madden, Matthew Madden, Kevin Madden Black, Logan Willis Black, and Elizabeth Ayers. Sarah was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Anna Kate Black, Sawyer Bryson Black, Caleigh Black, Ashleigh MaKenzie Black, and Tyler Wayne Black, who brought her immense joy.

Sarah was preceded in death by her beloved father, Henry Green Worthy Jr., her mother, Lesie Bell Worthy, her husband, Willis Garland Black, and her siblings, Catherine Worthy Yates, John Grady Worthy, Henry Brady Worthy, and Margaret Worthy Allen. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her loved ones in eternal peace.

Throughout her life, Sarah was deeply involved in her church, Duncan Memorial Methodist Church, where she was a charter member for 70 years. Her dedication to her faith was evident in her service as both Treasurer and President of the District United Methodist Women. Sarah's love for her church's history led her to author a booklet on the history of Duncan Memorial Methodist Church, preserving its legacy for future generations.

Sarah's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She lived a life of service, participating in the prayer chain and creating beautiful quilts for Save A Life, a testament to her faith-filled and generous spirit. Her hands were rarely still as she poured her love into each stitch, crafting warmth and comfort for those in need.

Described by all who knew her as selfless, loving, and faith-filled, Sarah's impact on her community and her family was profound. Her unwavering dedication to her Lord and Savior was reflected in every aspect of her life, inspiring those around her to live with kindness and purpose.

As we bid farewell to Sarah Elizabeth Worthy Black, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love that will continue to flourish in the hearts she touched. Her memory will be cherished and honored by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
