Sarah Herndon Clapp

Sarah Herndon Clapp, aged 73, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at White Oak of Burlington. Born on March 9, 1952, in Alamance County, NC, Sarah was a lifelong resident of Southern Alamance County, where she cultivated deep roots and cherished connections.

Sarah dedicated many years of her professional life to serving as a receptionist for social services, where her warm demeanor and helpful nature touched the lives of many in her community. Beyond her professional contributions, Sarah was known for her impeccable sense of fashion and her love for jewelry, which reflected her vibrant personality. She had an adventurous spirit and a passion for travel, always eager to explore new places and cultures. A true animal lover, Sarah adored all creatures great and small, and her compassion for animals was evident throughout her life. Her home was often filled with the joyful presence of pets, each one finding a loving sanctuary under her care.

Sarah was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Marion and Courtney Crenshaw Herndon. She is survived by her son, Gray Clapp, and her three beautiful granddaughters, Graylyn, Carly, and Amanda, with whom she shared countless precious moments. Among them, she held a special bond with Graylyn, a relationship that brought her immense joy and pride. Sarah also leaves behind her four devoted brothers, Howard, Wayne, David, and Bobby Herndon, who were her lifelong companions and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Authoracare Collective Burlington and The Humane Society of Alamance County, honoring Sarah's generous spirit and her enduring love for animals and her community.
