Sarah Ann (Madison) Doyle went to her heavenly home on Saturday, April 22, 2023. She was a loving and faithful wife, and had an unwavering belief in the Lord. She was a woman of few words but spoke clearly by the way she lived her life. She was a resident of Goodlife in Portales, NM where she was cared for and loved by the staff.
Some of her final concerns were about who would take care of her birds. She loved birds. Glen and Sarah loved to travel on road trips and visit family and friends. During road trips, she would watch for hawks. She kept journals of how many they saw and often with directions or exclamations of what they were doing when spotted. In West Virginia, one of her favorite birds were cardinals. She often spoke of her favorite coffee cup with a cardinal on it.
She also loved jelly beans and would wonder where she left her 5 lb. bag, and the Good Life staff would make her happy by making her wishes come true and let her find some!
Sarah was born November 8, 1927 in Hinton, West Virginia to Dorsey R. Madison and Josie Faye (Fox) Madison. She had a younger brother, James Houston Madison. She worked at home and was a clerk in a dime store. Then in the early 60's she started working for the US Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington D.C. through 1970. She was commended for her loyal and devoted service, and outstanding attitude by J. Edgar Hoover.
She met the love of her life, Calvin Glen Doyle late in life, and they married on June 27th, 1969 at Arlington Baptist Church in Arlington, Virginia. They resided in the Kanawha City section of Charleston, West Virginia. They attended Witcher Baptist Church in Belle, West Virginia where they enjoyed many years of fellowship and celebrated their 40th anniversary there. In 2014, they returned to New Mexico to be close to family.
Sarah is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and by a sister-in-law, Minnie Jo Cornell of Lubbock, TX and one brother-in-law, Carl Doyle of San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and by Glen Doyle, her husband of more than 53 years, who died Oct. 29, 2022.
