McMahon, Sarah Theresa (Tessie) of Waterford, MI passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 24th.
Tessie was the loving wife of John McMahon for 59 years. Together they had six children, fourteen grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. Tessie and John invited Pat Clancy (a friend of the McMahon boys) to join their family when Pat lost his father. Tessie treated Pat like he was one of her own and Pat was a big help to Tessie in times of need.
Tessie is survived by her daughter Mary (Kirk) Oliver, sons Pat (Cathy Hotchkiss) McMahon, Michael (Susan Graham) McMahon, Dan (Lisa Beveridge) McMahon, Tom McMahon, Pat (Beth) Clancy; grandchildren Danielle Zarinsefat, Katie Oliver, Kirk Oliver Jr., Andy Newcombe, Sean McMahon, Charlie McMahon, Johnny McMahon, Sarah Lucking, Nick McMahon, Allie Bolton, Amanda McMahon, Justin McMahon, Avery Canada and Matthew McMahon; great grandchildren Teddy and Thomas Zarinsefat, Harper, Brayden, Teagan Newcombe, Johnny and Logan McMahon, Isabella McMahon, Olivia Lucking, Benjamin, Callahan and Charlotte McMahon.
Tessie was preceded in death by her husband John T. McMahon Jr., son John T. McMahon III, father John McParlane, mother Mary McParlane, brothers Mike / Joann McParlane, Barnie / Jean McParlane, Johnny / Janie McParlane, Pat / Patsy McParlane, sister Mae / John Gailbreath, Mother-in law Agnes McKeown, Sister in law Marianne / Ken Savela, brother in law Tom / Kathy McMahon, nephews John and Terry McParlane and niece Mona (McParlane) Mason.
Tessie was born in Detroit and graduated from St. Leo's High School. Tessie and John were married in October of 1957. Tessie was a devoted wife, loving mother dedicated to her Faith, Family and Friends.
John and Tessie were selfless, always willing to help. Tessie was very proud that her and John were named Honorary Alumni of Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes for their years of volunteer service.
Tessie loved watching sports, especially when her children or grandchildren were playing. She was an avid Michigan fan and regularly attended Michigan Football games.
Tessie frequently organized family vacations, hosted family parties, UM tailgate parties and organized many social events for family and friends.
Tessie leaves us with a lifetime of happy memories and the example of a Christian life well lived.
The McMahon family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the caregivers and staff at Lourdes Senior Community for the compassionate care of our mother. We would also like to thank Mary Schleim for the tremendous home health care she provided to Tessie.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, 5481 Dixie Highway, Waterford. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Riverside Chapel, Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, 5630 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford.
