Sarah Jean Shell, 63, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025. Mama, what a joy. Fashionable, funny, loving. Helpful, uplifting, beautiful. Strong, capable, and caring. A courageous fighter. So many words to describe such a beautiful person. She worked in the Hartford Board of Education for nearly 20 years before she retired. She loved to look and feel good. Every time you saw her, even when she wasn't at her best - she still seemed so put together. She cared for her family beyond great measures. Loved to cook and man oh man it was the best food mostly because made it with love - but don't get it twisted it also some of the best food you'll have ever tasted. She faithfully attended church, she had plenty hobbies including sewing at various churches. She even had her own sewing room at home. Her all time favorite hobby...shopping! Queen of Sales you could call her. Recently it has been a variety of stores that caught her attention but she always found a sale on her favorite items - in any and every last one of stores. She genuinely was just a joy to be around. A giving heart and soul that will be terribly missed more than words can describe. She was the person you could rely on, for everything. She's gone too soon, but will always love within the hearts of those she touched.
She was born on April 12, 1962 in Montgomery, Alabama to Willie and Emma (Rudolph) Peak. She is preceded in death by her father, Willie James Peak; and son, Cavoris Harris.
Sarah is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Samuel Shell; mother, Emma Mae Smith; daughter, LaNisha Hampton; step-son, Samuel Shell, Jr.; step-daughter, Renee (Waldo) Moore; granddaughter, Layla Hampton-Crooms; brothers, Willie (Barbara) Mack, Jr., Larry Mack; sister, Anne (Keir) Williams; sisters-in-law, Lavenia (Eddie) Wadlington, Faye Shell; brother-in-law, Melvin (Darlene) Shell; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.
