Sarah L. Wheatley, 61, of Tell City, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital after fighting a courageous battle with aHUS.
She was born in Tell City on September 25, 1962, the daughter of the late Casper "John" and Glenda (Sprinkle) Etienne.
Sarah was a 1981 graduate of Tell City High School and went on to further her education by obtaining her associate degree from Owensboro Business College. She was united in marriage to Jim Wheatley on September 18, 1982.
Sarah worked in accounting for ORG Chem Group and retired in 2023, after 42 years of service. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Sarah was as selfless, kind and strong-willed as they come. She was known for always putting others before herself and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her greatest joy in life was time spent with her family and grandchildren, traveling, and baking cookies and treats for her family.
Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Jim Wheatley of Tell City; children Dane (Emily) Wheatley of Tell City, Katie (Danny) Wheatley of Chicago, IL, and Trent (Amber) Wheatley of Tell City; siblings, Randy (Barbara) Etienne of Tell City, Denny Etienne of Tell City, Susan (Kevin) King of Derby, and Scott (Kenlee) Etienne of Cornville, AZ; grandchildren, Owen, Jackson, Mason and June Wheatley; and mother-in-law, Anna Wheatley
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, John and Glenda Etienne.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Hollowell officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7:30am to 9:30am on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City, IN.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or St. Mary's Cemetery Fund.
