Sarah A. Zwicker, age 93, of Hartland, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on November 9, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan, Sarah was the cherished daughter of Frank and Janett Rumps. She graduated in 1949 from St. Theresa of Avila High School, where she built lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for a life centered on faith, love, and family.
A lifelong Catholic, Sarah's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She was a devoted and longtime parishioner of St. John Catholic Church in Howell, Michigan, where she found community, comfort, and strength.
As a young woman, Sarah met the love of her life, Paul Zwicker, through his sister Betty-a meeting that would blossom into a beautiful love story. Sarah and Paul were married in 1951 at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Detroit, embarking on a journey together that would span decades and bring forth a deeply cherished family.
A devoted and loving mother, Sarah dedicated her life to raising her children with compassion, patience, and unwavering support. Her greatest joy came from her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family was her heart, her pride, and her purpose.
When her children were older, Sarah brought her warmth and diligence to the American Heart Association (formerly the Michigan Heart Association), where she worked as a secretary. Her quiet strength and grace touched the lives of all who knew her.
Sarah found joy in life's simple pleasures. She was an avid reader, with a particular fondness for spy novels, and found peace in summer getaways to the family cottage in Caseville and Port Austin. Her spirit was generous, her demeanor humble, and her heart endlessly kind.
Sarah leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and deep family bonds. She will be remembered for her gentle nature, her thoughtful presence, and the deep devotion she held for those she loved.
She will be profoundly missed, yet forever remembered, by all whose lives she graced.
Beloved mother of Chuck, Karen, Steve (Terry), Tom (Jane), Diane, Paul "Tony" (Beverly); loving grandmother of Carly Varney (Jeff) Eric Zwicker (Christine), Bill Fisk (Cicily), Sarah Stanford (Corey), Emily Rye (Patrick), and Abigail; cherished great-grandmother of Wyatt and James; dearest sister of Margaret "Peggy" Stoe (Jim). Sarah is also survived by many loving niece, nephews, family and friends.
Sarah is preceded in passing by her loving husband Paul Zwicker, son John, and brother Richard "Dickie" Johns.
In lieu of flowers, please do a good deed for someone who least expects it.
Funeral Mass to be held at St. John Catholic Church in Howell on Friday, April 25 at 11:00 AM. Instate, or gathering time, 10:00 AM. Procession to St. John Catholic Cemetery to follow mass.

I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Zwicker (as I knew her growing up) passing. She was a lovely person who kept us neighborhood kids in-line.
My heart felt condolences to the entire Zwicker family.
