Saskia Maxwell Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williams-Gores Funeral Home on Nov. 26, 2024.
Saskia "Sasha" Maxwell, at the age of 53, passed away on November 23, 2024, in Midland, MI, just one day shy of her 54th birthday. Born on November 24, 1970, in Clare, MI, Sasha was the daughter of Phillip Maxwell and Nora Evers.
As a young child, Sasha grew up in Beaverton, MI, close to her beloved grandparents, Vera and John Maxwell. Her grandfather John built several doll houses for her while her grandmother Vera used her seamstress talents to make beautiful clothes for Sasha and her dolls. Even as a child, Sasha traveled with her mother Nora frequently to the Netherlands getting to know the Dutch grandparents and cousins.
Sasha attended Delton Kellogg Schools and graduated at 16 years old. At Delton, she met the love of her life, Linn Weber, and the two embarked on a journey together.
Sasha's academic achievements were notable, having graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Western Michigan University, where she proudly made the Dean's list every year. Her passion for helping others led her to a commendable career as a probation officer and as a special education teacher at Gull Lake Community Schools. Her work left a lasting impact on many lives, guiding individuals towards brighter futures. She was interested in ALL people and knew how to form a relationship with anyone.
An avid lover of animals, Sasha found joy in the company of dogs, cats, horses and many other animals which she always tried to bring home. She owned several horses and frequently took long rides through the country around Delton. Her senior pictures had to be taken with her favorite horse Kerry.
Her creative soul shone through in her crafting and artistic capabilities, and she also cherished the art of collecting various treasures throughout her journeys and adventures.
Family was the cornerstone of Sasha's world, especially her beloved son Kelly, affectionately known as "Peanut". While Kelly was a student at Gull Lake Community Schools, Sasha was known to many students and co-workers by many titles: the Lunch lady, the Wrestling mom, the Football mom, the Detention teacher, but most commonly "Ms. Sasha". Even though as a child Sasha had spent her fair share of time in the detention room, she ended up teaching and supervising her very own set of naughty kids during her career at Gull Lake. Sasha made such a large and lasting impact on so many people's lives that she touched throughout the years, she may not have claimed it, but she was always a big part of her friends and local communities. She could be found at almost all Kelly's High School Football games, always accompanied by her blind and diabetic Miniature Pinscher dog named Rex (Get the Cows!). She was known for bringing a little bit of happy chaos, accompanied by A LOT of LOVE and SUPPORT to all that she had known. She always had some kind words and a big hug waiting for anyone in need, and maybe a smart-ass remark if needed to get a smile out of her friends and co-workers in any way possible.
She is survived by her son Kelly Weber, her mother Nora Evers, her nephew Kameron Maxwell, and her sister-in-law Kim Weber. Sasha was predeceased by her significant others Linn Weber, Keith Tice, and her stepfather Ralph Deal.
Sasha will be remembered as a loving mother, a cherished daughter, and a loyal and caring friend whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and empathy will continue to inspire those that she leaves behind.
