Saundra J. Reed, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, surrounded by her family's love and prayers.
Saundra lived a life deeply rooted in faith, kindness, and, most of all, service. She carried a joyful spirit and a heart overflowing with compassion. Her presence was radiant, her wisdom steady, and her love unconditional. Whether offering words of encouragement, lending a helping hand, or sharing her warm smile, Saundra had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel extra special in her presence. She was, in every sense, like a mother to many.
A devoted woman of faith, Saundra's love for the Lord guided every part of her journey. She shared her many talents generously - through her church, her work, and the countless lives she touched throughout her community. Her light warmed every room she entered, and her legacy of love will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and cherished her.
Saundra is survived and will be deeply missed by her loving son, Alex R. Reed; her cherished granddaughter, Bridgette R. Reed; grandsons, D'von C. (Jones) Reed and Xavier (Molina) Reed; and six great-grandchildren, Naeem Kirby, Kaylani Kirby, Jamil Kirby, Kori Kirby, Charlie Reed, Aria Jones, She also leaves behind her devoted mother, Whilda Johnston; sister, Yeolonda J. Stevenson; brother, Albert L. Johnston Jr.; her former spouse, Arny R. Reed; four godchildren, whom she adored, Nikki Walker, Miesha Phillips, Miquel Phillips, and Travis Ruffin as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends who became family over the years.
She was preceded in death by her father Albert L. Johnston Sr., son Aaron R. Reed, and daughter Andria R. Reed. Though they have gone before her, Saundra's legacy of love continues to shine through her family and all those blessed to have known her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 30, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at Christian Unity Baptist Church, 1700 Conti St., New Orleans, LA 70112, with "Reflections of a Beautiful Life" beginning at 9:00 A.M. Interment will follow at 10400 Old Gentilly Rd., New Orleans, LA 70127.
The family welcomes The Walter L. Cohen Class of 1969, Employees of the New Orleans Office of Family Support, Members of Greater Bright Morning Star Baptist Church, The Ashé Cultural Center, and City Officials of New Orleans.
The family asks that you remember Saundra by sharing kindness, laughter, and love - the very things she gave so freely.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
