Savannah J. C. Michael

Mother Savannah J. C. Michael, born on December 5, 1945, in Benton, MS, was a beloved member of her community and church. She passed away on November 21st, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith and love. Savannah was the cherished daughter of Richard and Fannie Jones, who preceded her in death, along with her sister Cecil Amos, brother Richard Jones Jr., and sons James E. Cleveland and Ollie B. Michael.

She confessed Christ at the age of twelve at Cedar Grove M. B. Church and later became an active member of Mt. Charity M.B. Church in Jackson, MS, where she served in various capacities including the choir, women's ministry, sick committee, and the Mother Board. Savannah found joy in cooking and gardening, activities that brought her comfort and peace.

She is survived by her daughter Merchelle Cleveland, son Anthony T. Michael, daughter-in-law LaVerne Anthony, and grandchildren Dion Stevens, Kion (LaBrea) Stevens, Jasmine Cheeks, Venita (Darrell) Wrightsil, and Ashley (Larry) Winters. Her great-grandchildren Keilani Stevens, Wynter Stevens, Niyla Grant, Donovan Wrightsil, Daniel Wrightsil, Anthony Winter, and Akiera Winter will also carry on her memory. Savannah is also survived by her brother Arthur Jones, sisters Eula Chinn, Deloris Hill, and Dorothy Dortch, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her extended family, the New Ebenezer Connection, will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Mt. Charity Baptist Church in Ridgeland, Mississippi, with her final resting place at Garden Memorial Cemetery in Jackson, Mississippi. Viewing will take place on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Peoples Funeral Home in Jackson, MS.
