Celebrating the Life of Say Vongphamany

On August 16, 2025, Say Vongphamany, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, at the age of 81. Born on November 12, 1943, in Yasothon, Thailand to Keo and Boua Chantarakanok, Say lived a full and joyful life rooted in family, laughter, and love.

Say's journey took him far from his small hometown. During the Vietnam War, he worked as a translator for Air America, supporting U.S. military forces in Laos. It was in Vientiane, Laos, where he met the love of his life, Chan. Their journey brought them to America, where they raised their four children.

Say was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, whose love for his family was generous and unconditional. He had a playful sense of humor, and a way of bringing joy to any gathering. He was the life of the party, but also the most patient and humble man-never one to complain, always one to give.

Even though he made his home in America, his heart never left Thailand. He loved his homeland deeply and often spoke of returning to the place where his story began. He has now been reunited with his parents and two siblings, who welcomed him home.

Say is survived by his devoted wife, Chan; his children, Phonesay, Keith (Vicky), Maynee (Lammone), and Sarah (Dan); his sisters, Lamay and Lumyai; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Say will be deeply missed but his memory will live on through the laughter he inspired, the lessons of kindness he taught, and the love he gave so freely.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Mortuary, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the same location.
