Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home - Harpers Ferry on Jan. 2, 2024.
Scott Bradford Doleman, 51, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, passed away suddenly on December 21, 2023, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Born on October 2, 1972, in Ranson, West Virginia, Scott's life journey was characterized by a deep commitment to family, community, and service.
Scott was baptized in 2003 and was a dedicated member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He served faithfully in many capacities and was appreciated for his leadership as the Chair of the Staff Pastor-Perish Relations Committee.
Education was a cornerstone of Scott's life. He graduated from Shepherd University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He went on to earn a Master of Arts in Communication Studies from West Virginia University. His dedication to learning was evident in both his personal and professional pursuits.
In his distinguished 19-year career with FedEx Freight, Scott rose to the position of Regional Vice President of Operations - Northwest, based in Phoenix, Arizona. He provided leadership to over 8,700 employees across 73 service centers and 3 relay yards. Scott's journey with FedEx Freight began in 2004 as a supervisor at the Hagerstown, Maryland service center. His ascent through the ranks showcased his exceptional leadership skills, culminating in his role as Managing Director of Operations - Hagerstown, Maryland District in 2016.
Scott's impact extended beyond the professional realm. He devoted 4.5 years as Operations Manager at D.M. Bowman, Inc. and another 4 years in Admissions at Shepherd University, where he also served as a Counselor and Assistant Men's Basketball Coach.
Committed to community service, Scott was a founding member and President of the Shepherd University Athletic Club. He held the office of president on the Shepherd University Alumni Association Board and was a founding officer of the United Brothers (UB) Fraternity. Recognized in the Shepherd Hall of Fame in 2000, Scott's athletic prowess shone as a three-sport athlete in football, baseball, and basketball.
Scott's generosity knew no bounds. A giver, mentor, and humble soul, considered life's greatest accomplishment to be his son, Brendan. His dedication to others was evident in his love for his family and community.
In addition to his professional and academic achievements, Scott found joy in his love for God, fishing with friends, singing with his family group, coaching basketball with his father and cheering on his favorite NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys. He was hospitable and cooking reflected the diverse and rich tapestry of his interests.
Scott was greeted in heaven by his bonus father, Franklin Carter; maternal grandmother, Cordell Bradford; maternal grandfather, Jesse Bradford; paternal grandmother, Emmaline Doleman; paternal grandfather, Clarence Doleman, bonus grandmother Celina Carter, and bonus grandfather Benjamin Carter.
Scott leaves lasting memories with his son, Brendan Doleman; fiancé, Kasha Pearson; Kasha's daughter, Kennedy; mother, Jessica Doleman; father, Daniel Doleman; sisters, Joni Doleman and Jamie Carter; brothers, Kent Carter (Brenda) and Patrick Doleman; godmother, Selma Cash; godchildren, Alija Lewis and Jordan Carr, and a host of very close nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

I just heard of Scott's passing today. I am beyond saddened to hear this news. I attended Shepherd University with Scott and he was one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. He was an incredible student, athlete, and a man of good character. RIP Scott

I will always remember how Scott made attending Shepherd and the United Brothers organization I was able to be apart of. The fellowship and fun with brothers who were seeking excellence was invaluable. Shocked at this huge loss and praying for his family.

I am retired from FedEx in Virginia Beach and had the great opportunity to have Scott as our DM! I have worked for FedEx for 33 years and I can truthfully say that I have never had a superior at any level treat me with the understanding personal compassion that Scott did! I excelled my career in part to his input and will so ever hold our conversations dear in my heart! Rest In Peace my friend, and may God bless us all!

Scott was just one of THOSE people who elevated the conversation or the situation whenever he was involved. We were never best buds, but his presence, charisma, and joyfulness were a tremendous influence in the years we were both attending Shepherd University. His positivity, innate motivation, and zest for life shone through and inspired us all to live bigger, better, and more connected lives. Scott was a once-in-a-lifetime embodiment of community, character, and spirit.
