"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings:" (John Magee, 1941)
Scott Kinloch Carter died on June 10, 2025 at his home in Tallahassee of natural causes. He was born on January 26,1961 in Tallahassee Florida to Elizabeth Fuller Carter and Thomas Kinloch Carter. Mr. Carter attended Leon High School, Tallahassee Community College and the Lively Technical School of Aviation where he earned his FAA A&P certifications. He later became a Sport/Recreation Pilot. Before his long illness he was employed in several states in the general aviation business. He loved to fly small airplanes and was an experienced sky diver, both solo and in formations. He was an Episcopalian.
Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Amos and Virginia Shirah Fuller of Dothan, Alabama; Cleland Nelson and Nell Jones Carter of Tallahassee; and his father, Thomas Kinloch Carter of Wakulla Station. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Fuller Carter of Sopchoppy, Florida; his brothers Stephen Fuller Carter (Rebecca) of Sopchoppy, and Miles Christian Carter (Amy) of Cario, Georgia. He is also survived by his step father Morton Horn of Tallahassee and his step siblings Adam Horn (Shannon) of Tampa and Dee Horn (Monty) of Middleburg, Florida as well as eight nieces and nephews and three first cousins.
Mr. Carter will be interred in the Carter family plot at Oakland Cometary at a later date. No services are planned at this time.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the Apalachee Community Mental Health Center's FACT teams in Wakulla and Leon counties who made such a positive and supportive impact on Scott's life.
