Scott David Dorn

Scott Dorn of Royal Oak, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on August 5, 2025.

Scott graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelors degree in Corporate Finance. Scott had a successful career as a commercial banker. He most recently was enjoying his career experience and building a team at Independent Bank. Scott was highly admired by his clients and colleagues.

Scott was the proud "cat dad" to Punkin and his buddy Pandi. He was an animal lover and greeted every dog he passed on walks and drives.

Scott was an avid and incredible golfer who enjoyed golf outings with his friends and family. He loved and looked forward to Michigan football with his brother Mike, who he shared season tickets with. Scott loved the Detroit Lions and as a season ticket holder was happy to have a good team again. Scott loved firework shows (Clawson & Red Run) and hosted a few amazing shows for his neighborhood. Scott was a big car guy and shared many fond memories with his family at the Woodward Dream Cruise. Scott looked forward to daily chats with his dad about his career, the latest news and the stock market. Scott shared a special bond with his sister Laurie, she was his biggest supporter and confidant. He also had a passion for cruising with Royal Caribbean and recently went on an amazing cruise to Alaska. Scott enjoyed get togethers with his family and growing up the youngest of five, he had some fun stories and memories he treasured.

Scott had generously made the choice to be a Gift of Life Donor and will benefit the lives of many.

Scott was beloved partner of Jen Black, devoted son of Dennis and Virginia Dorn, much loved little brother of Vickie Dorn, Mike (Peggy) Dorn, Mark (Sue) Dorn, and Laurie (David) Leonard and a fun-loving uncle and great uncle. Scott is preceded in death by his mother Virgina Dorn.

The memorial service for Scott will be on Friday, August 15, at 11:00am, with visiting starting at 10:00am at A.J. Desmond & Sons, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy. Family will receive friends Thursday, August 14, from 4-8pm.

As we gather to celebrate Scott's life, we invite everyone attending the visitation on Thursday to wear University of Michigan or Detroit Lions shirts or jerseys in his honor.

Scott's love for his teams was a big part of who he was, and this small gesture will help us reflect the joy and pride he carried for them. Let's come together in a sea of maize, blue, and Honolulu blue to show our love and support.
