Scott Bergen Earl

Scott Bergen Earl 71 of Taylorsville, Utah, passed away on November 10, 2025, holding his sweetheart's hand.
Scott was born on May 20, 1954, in Brigham City, Utah, to Ted and Lucy Earl. He grew up in Brigham City, forming meaningful, lifelong friendships with wonderful people. Scott served an LDS mission in São Paulo, Brazil, and later married his sweetheart, Juli Miller.
Scott and Juli settled in Salt Lake City, where he earned an engineering degree from the University of Utah. They made their home in Salt Lake County-primarily Taylorsville-where they raised four children and eventually delighted in the company of seven grandchildren.
Scott left us after a 30-year battle with Parkinson's disease. Diagnosed at 41, he spent decades exceeding every expectation and teaching those around him what quiet strength looks like.
He will be remembered for his gentle temperament, quick wit, and deep love for family and friends. He was a skilled potter, an avid golfer, and a lover of food and culture. Scott was endlessly curious-an insatiable reader who could devour a paperback a day-and his intelligence and humor enriched every conversation.
Scott is survived by his wife, Juli Earl; his children Jessica Steed (Jon), Martin Earl (Chanel), Brian Earl, and Kate Dunaway (Travis); and his seven cherished grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Lucy, his sister Diane, and his brother Richard.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 15, at 12:00 PM at the Heritage Park 2nd Ward Chapel (5233 S 3200 W, Taylorsville).There will be an opportunity to greet the family starting at 11:00 AM. An open house will be held on Friday, November 14, from 6:00–8:00 PM at the same location for those who wish to pay their respects to the family.

The family would like to thank Wasatch Rock Steady Boxing, the Heritage Park 2nd Ward, our CNS Hospice Angels, the University of Utah Neurology Clinic, and the countless friends and loved ones who have supported Scott throughout his journey. The children would like to thank Juli and Brian for the love, support, and care they gave to Scott in his final years. We don't know what we would do without you.
Scott built a life full of love, learning, and laughter. The family he cherished will carry his spirit forward in every story told, every meal shared, and every moment of joy.
