St. Albans - Scott Ede, 63, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, left this world on Thursday, August 7th, 2025, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Scott passed away with his loving family by his side. He is predeceased by his parents, Allen F. and Johann (Phelps) Ede.
Scott's life was one of adventure, love, and unwavering dedication to his family. He lived his life fully, enjoying cruising and traveling the world. Scott was an avid boater, fisherman, and enjoyed many beautiful sunsets from his Maquam Shore home. In his early years, Scott enjoyed bowling on a league, refinishing furniture, and also had a natural talent for playing the piano and organ. Within the community, Scott coached little league for many years in Swanton, and was a member of the Seventy-Six Lodge #14, F&AM, and a member of the St. Albans Chamber of Commerce.
Scott built Green Mountain Insurance and Retirement Solutions, Inc. into a respected business. His wife, Heather, is committed to honoring Scott's vision for Green Mountain Insurance and Retirement Solutions, Inc., and will carry on the business, preserving its values and commitment to excellence. He also worked many years at his family business, Woodworks Unfinished Furniture Store, where he formed strong and lasting ties to the people he served.
Friends and colleagues have recognized his adventurous spirit, kindness, humor and robust laughter. Anyone who knew Scott will remember him for his jovial spirit and witty personality. He was always quick with a joke and brought the fun to every event he attended.
Scott leaves behind his devoted wife, Heather Fosgate, and their blended family: daughters Alyssa Ede (Shelly Danville); Leah Chagnon (Dylan Chagnon); Morgan Ede (Chadwick Santor); Caitlin Fosgate (Tom Gordon); and sons Turner Ede and Joshua Fosgate (Shawn May). Scott also leaves behind three grandsons, Joey, Chase and Aiden, with another grandson due in September.
Also mourning his passing are his siblings: Kathy Fernald (Richard Fernald); Chandler Ede (Patty Ede); and April Kilbury (Paul Kilbury) as well as several nieces and nephews.
