Scott was born June 9, 1962, in Marshalltown to Marion and Carmen (Keefer) Fisher. He grew up in rural Conrad and graduated from BCL High School with the class of 1980. Scott was united in marriage to Linda Whannel on May 6, 1989, in Beaman. The two made their home in Conrad where they raised their daughters. Scott spent his career trucking and then farmed; his hard work ethic tying into everything he did. However, if you asked him what his job was he would often say he didn't have one because he truly loved the life he built.

He was a faithful member of the Beacon Christian Church in Conrad. When he wasn't working, he could be found at his girls' sporting events. Although he probably couldn't tell you what the score was or who won, as he was busy talking to anyone and everyone, he was there cheering them on. His favorite time was spent talking to friends or being with his family. Scott also enjoyed various outdoor activities; deer hunting, fishing, camping, trail riding on mules, kayaking, and Polaris rides to check the crops. As a simple guy who enjoyed staying busy, he could also be found working or tinkering in his shop.

He will always be remembered for his heart of Gold and his calm, cool and collected demeanor. He was known for many traits, but his witty one liners kept everyone around him laughing. No one was a stranger to Scott Fisher, and if you ever needed a hand, Scott was only a phone call away. Scott built a life that he loved filled with his favorite things; family, friends, and farming.

Scott will be deeply missed by his wife, Linda, of Conrad, his daughters; Jamie (Dan) Kruger of Britt, IA, Nicole (Colton) James of Grinnell, IA, and Kayla (Will) Hilpipre of Sumner, IA, eight grandchildren; Owen, Kloey, and Wyatt Kruger, Charlie, Brooks, and Archer James, and Aubrey and Eli Hilpipre, his mother, Carmen Fisher of Conrad, and his brother, Mike (Kandy) Fisher of Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by his father, Marion, and his mother and father-in-law, Wayne and Edith Whannel.

I'm so sorry to learn of Scott's passing. Although I went to my initial elementary school years with him, I remember him most as an adult on his farm with his family. My dad had become friends with Scott as a fellow farmer/truck driver. He could deliver a witty jab, followed by a grin that can't be forgotten. My condolences to his family and friends. He is gone too soon.
